There are many things in life that we consider to be essential. That new car or that new pair of shoes may seem essential but in reality they are not. Food, water and shelter are absolutely necessary for survival. Without water we would not exist. You would not get the chance to wear those new shoes or drive that new car. If you have ever traveled to another country, such as Mexico, then you have heard about the drinking water available there. It can not be just any water that you drink - it must be safe water that will not make you sick.

Safe water is a delicate balance within nature. It can be completely clean upstream and five feet down the stream it isn’t fit drinking water due to contaminants. Should there be a contamination problem, the local water office will issue a warning that a boil order is in effect. You will need to boil all of your drinking and cooking water for the minimum recommended time, as stated by city officials, to ensure that you are drinking healthy water.

So how does the water that you drink become safe water? Well, it goes through water treatment plants and water purifiers to ensure that no microscopic bacteria are present that will cause you harm. Many cities and towns try to utilize biological purification systems before adding chemicals or other treatments to the water to ensure that you will not become sick by drinking the water. Water contamination is a serious business, and in North America stringent water standards are the norm. Gastric problems can be quite serious for some individuals who already suffer from a lowered immune system, such as the young or elderly.

No matter how many times it must be said, drinking water is an absolute must in your life. You cannot get all the fluids you need from soda pop. Even if you hate the taste of tap water, there are alternatives out there from which to choose. Why not try some of the new flavored waters that come chock full of vitamins? You can be getting your daily dose of water and have a great tasting beverage to enjoy. Get some water in your diet!
